Final Reflection:
My comprehension of fundamental design principles such as balance, contrast, motion, or perspective has deepened. The exploration of those elements has helped me to realize how the different element interacts to create both the desirable visual messages and the essential pattern of achieving a design.
What I Enjoyed Most: I found the practical part of the module very interesting since it consisted of my own artwork that I created using design principles inspired by Piet Mondrian. I had a lot of fun experimenting with and altering different aspects and observing how they affect my overall perception of the design.
What I Enjoyed Least: The kind of task that I was least excited about was the stage of conceptualization, where I struggled to decide how well I can actually apply the principles of Mondrian to my work and how much I can modify them through the signature style I was trying to establish for myself. Sometimes it was even tedious, showing the difficulties that stylizing can be in a design process.
Personal Discoveries: This module has demonstrated another more patient and determined approach that you can adopt while you are in the design process. I discovered that I like the challenge of balancing art and engineering of constructing and unveiling a new design.
Changes in My Learning Journey: The outcome of this course experience is reflected in many aspects, for example, theory practice in the form of principle into hands-on, production operation. This path helped me firm up my theoretical knowledge as well as confirm my ability to use these concepts with creativity.
Aspirations: I am determined to pursue this line of inquiry further, where traditional design methods and modern digital techniques create unique harmony. I hope to be a UI/UX designer who not only knows the building blocks of good design but is unafraid to break the rules and push boundaries. I would love to apply myself in this visual communication area in which revolutionary and radical ideas are delivered to shake up the existing norms.
Conclusion: Personally, the Design Principles module is undoubtedly a pivotal moment in my academic journey, which has brought my skill and comprehension to a new level. Now, with each passing project, I look forward to applying these new principles and continuously sharpen my skills to achieve even better results.
